However,\u00a0 Ethereum core developer Tim Beiko projects that the transition could happen a few months after June.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>PoW Ethereum is in its final chapter<\/h2>\n<p>Beiko first noted this while responding to an <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TimBeiko\/status\/1514008048888475648?t=e7yk3nd6B8a9C9WrBwCncw&amp;s=19\">inquiry<\/a> from an Ethereum miner on Twitter. Advising miners to \u201cnot invest more in mining equipment,\u201d Beiko revealed that the merge, which would make PoW mining redundant, was coming soon.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>It won\u2019t be June, but likely in the few months after. No firm date yet, but we\u2019re definitely in the final chapter of PoW on Ethereum<\/em>, he <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TimBeiko\/status\/1514010098145759232?t=4wu-hcs4GRgxErVZVl3j5Q&amp;s=19\">tweeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In another tweet accompanied by a GitHub Ethereum <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/timbeiko\/eth-roadmap-faq#merge-timelines\">roadmap update<\/a>, Beiko elaborated on his statement to clarify concerns raised by the community. He wrote that a date for the merge will only be set when \u201cclient teams are confident that the software implementations have been thoroughly tested and are bug-free.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also highlighted a few events that need to happen before the merge can occur. At the moment, all client teams have in-progress implementations of The Merge that have been rigorously tested.<\/p>\n<p>Once these clients work without issues on shadowforks, then testing will proceed to Ethereum testnets. Following the success of testnet implementation, a time will be set for mainnet implementation. All through the process, the community will receive updates, Beiko shared.<\/p>\n<p>The update is coming after the network crossed a significant milestone with the launch of its first mainnet shadowfork this week. Parithosh Jayanthi, an Ethereum Foundation developer, <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/parithosh_j\/status\/1513129883530059777?t=KJC6nu1Oc5dH2qnFJ1kTrA&amp;s=19\">said<\/a> the shadowfork is a way to \u201cstress test assumptions around syncing and state growth\u201d for the proof-of-stake mainnet.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Merge is expected to greatly boost ETH price<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The highly anticipated Ethereum transition will not only be a plus for the blockchain\u2019s prospects but also for the price of Ether (ETH). According to analysts, the price of <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/coingape.com\/ethereum-fee-has-dropped-90-since-nov-2021-eth-shows-stronger-correlation-with-sp-500\/\">ETH<\/a> will be propelled to new highs post-merge.<\/p>\n<p>Matt Hougan, the chief investment officer at Bitwise, said that the Merge would remodel Ether to be fully deflationary, as well as increase staking yield on the assets.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>The merge will essentially remodel Ethereum and its native coin ETH, making them (we imagine) considerably extra interesting to a large swath of institutional traders,<\/em> Hougan explained in an investor letter <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/ether-price-ethereum-merge-halving-eth-crypto-investing-matt-hougan-2022-4?r=US&amp;IR=T\">reported<\/a> on by Business Insider.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Based on this, he expects the price of ETH to soar well above $5,000.
